Gaming Set-up Updates! [August 2015]

Since building my gaming computer in early May, I have made a few upgrades, additions, and changes to my gaming set-up. These include Bluetooth, a new Wireless adapter, a new mouse, and a new OS! I did not get these changes all at once. Through out the summer, I have been adding piece by piece. I am very happy with what I have so far and am hoping for more wonderful upgrades in the future!

My first upgrade kind of killed two birds with one stone. The GIGABYTE GC-WB867D-I is a 2x2 802.11ac Duel band Wifi + Bluetooth 4.0 Card! Now my gaming computer has better Wifi connection and I can connect Bluetooth speakers to it!

In the box, you receive the Wifi+Bluetooth card, a USB Cable and a desktop antenna.

I really like how the antenna isn't limited to just inside of my case because I can leave it in the hallway outside of my room so that my PC gets better wifi from my room (which is unfortunately the worst wifi spot in the entire house).

Its features include:
  • Intel WIFI module supports Intel WIDI
  • IEEE 802.11ac standards compliant
  • Antenna supports WLAN 2Tx2R transmission
  • High speed wireless connection up to 867 Mbps
  • Fully qualified Bluetooth 4.0
  • Bluetooth enhanced Data Rate (EDR) support

Razer Mamba Gaming Mouse

My second upgrade is my mouse. I originally had the Dragon War Leviathan and it was great, but I wanted something that would match my set-up a little more. So I ended up buying the Razer Mamba

It isn't chroma, sadly, but you are still able to change its colors with pre-sets on Razer Synapse which is nice. I currently have mine set to Pink. It is also a wireless mouse (with the option of having it wired) which is super convenient as well!

At first it took me a while to get used to it, but now I am in love with it! I am hoping to soon get the Razer Mamba Tournament Edition, though, because it is so beautiful!

Windows 10

Last but not least, I upgraded to Windows 10! Windows 10 is a free upgrade for anyone who is currently running Windows 7 or 8. If you have not done so already, make sure you reserve your spot, so that you can get this free update!

Honestly, I was kind of skeptical about this upgrade because I was worried that a lot of my programs on my computer would not be compatible with the new Windows update, so I would have to buy everything all over again. To my surprise, everything worked fine.

The biggest complaint I find with Windows 8 was its attempt to make Windows more of a tablet interface which annoyed a lot of people who enjoyed the Start Menu. Honestly, while with Windows 8, I enjoyed the Windows 8.1 interface a lot. I think Windows 10 was a nice median for those who missed Windows 7 and those who loved Windows 8.

If you don't like the Windows 10 upgrade, I heard there was an option to go switch back to your previous OS without any issues.

Personally, I really love Windows 10. It starts up very very quickly, runs all the games and software I love, and just beautiful and slick to look at.
