Deluxe Jamaican Patties | Recipe

Happy Friday, Cupcakes! Today on the blog, I'm talking food. But not just any type of food--Jamaican Patties! When I was a freshman in high school, I remember I used to buy a Jamaican Patty every morning before school at Kennedy Station--they really have a soft spot in my heart! But rather than a recipe on how to make Jamaican Patties, I thought I'd share with you how I spice up my patties into a whole new special something using ingredients you probably already have laying around your kitchen--and I call it the deluxe jamaican patty!

What You Will Need:

  • (2) Jamaican patties--You can make some homemade ones, but mine are frozen store bought patties
  • Cheese--I am using Monterey Jack to add a little more spice and some Cheddar because who doesn't love cheddar cheese?
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Optional: Green Onion--I love it on my patty but some may not.
  • Optional: Mayo & Sriracha for homemade Spicy Mayo

Let's Get Started!

I begin by cooking the patties using the microwave directions on the box.

When mostly cooked, carefully use a knife to break apart the sealing of the patty so that you can start adding your ingredients.

I, first, like to add my cheese and pop them back into the microwave until the cheese is fairly melted.

Once the cheese is melted, add your lettuce and your (optional) green onion. Here, you can also add any other kinds of veggies. I know some people also like to add tomatoes, but I'm not much of a fan of them.

At this point, if you do not want spicy mayo on your patty, you can fold them up and start eating them. The cheese, because it is melted, acts like a glue to keep them closed.

If you do want spicy mayo: in a separate plate, add two parts mayo and one part sriracha sauce. Thoroughly mix them together.

Once combined, you can add it into your patty. You can obviously just scoop the spicy mayo into the patty, but I added my spicy mayo into a zip lock bag and snipped the tip to provide me with more control over how much spicy mayo I put into my deluxe patty.

Now you can just close it up and enjoy!

This recipe tastes absolutely amazing and you'll just want to keep coming back for more! This is one of my favourite after-work snacks and I'm sure you'll love it too! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
