My Geek Faves of 2016

With 2016 coming to a wrap, I couldn't help but reflect on the last year. There are so many new things I have been introduced to this year, that I have fallen in love with! That's why I thought I'd start a little series around this time of year, to share some of my all time faves throughout 2016!

Today, I will be sharing with you my 2016 Geek Favorites!

Nintendo 3DS XL - Galaxy Style | This 3DS was released in September 2016. The moment I saw it on the EB Games website, I knew I had to buy it! Anyone who knows me knows that I have a thing for matching all of my electronics. When I found out I could buy a PURPLE 3DS to match my gaming set up, I was ecstatic! For anyone who doesn't own a 3DS XL, it is totally worth the upgrade from the classic sized 3DS (Take that from someone who also purchased the classic sized 3DS a week before). It feels so much more snug and secure in my hands, the battery lasts significantly longer, and the screens are bigger! What's not to love?

Pokemon Sun (Pokemon Moon) | Speaking of the 3DS, my favorite 3DS game of 2016 would have to be Pokemon Sun. While the game just released, I have been having a ball playing it so far. I actually purchased my 3DS only to play this new installment to the Pokemon franchise. The new generation has so many new adorable Pokemon, the new Island Challenge (in replacement of Gym Battles) is a nice touch, and I've been enjoying exploring the Alola region as a whole. If you haven't gotten your hands on a copy yet, there's still time to add it to your holiday wishlist!

Pool Party Miss Fortune (League of Legends) | As an ADC main in League of Legends, I was so excited to see a new skin for one of my favorite champions. Since the majority of this year was the season for ADCs to shine, I also thoroughly enjoyed being able to use this skin a great amount because of the massive amounts of strength given to ADCs in the game this season. Plus, how freaking fabulous is water guns and heart bubbles flying everywhere?!

Star Guardian Lulu (League of Legends) |  Another skin I really loved was the Star Guardian Lulu skin! In general, the Star Guardian skins are absolutely adorable, but I couldn't help but fall in love with this one specifically because Lulu, no matter what role, will always be my favorite Champion. This skin is absolutely adorable and I have to say that this is my favorite Lulu skin so far (Sorry Pool Party Lulu!)

Elementalist Lux (League of Legends) | This has to be one of the most original skins Riot Games has come out with, so far. You have 10 different versions (or shall I say elements) you can be, throughout the game, changing the visuals of Lux throughout the game span. It is beautiful to see in game. Riot did an amazing job putting this skin together.

Deadpool | This was a phenomenal movie! I'm not much of a comic book reader and know very basic information about the Marvel universe; but I absolutely adored this movie. Adam and I saw it to celebrate Valentines Day this year and were cracking up from start to finish. It was so good we had to go to the theaters to see it again for a second time with our friends. It is very crude humor, but if that's how you roll, you will absolutely love this action packed, sass induced comedy "love" story.

Captain America: Civil War | Captain America movies, in general, have always captivated my heart. (Because Chris Evans, duhhhhh!). I felt like it was more of general Avengers movie than something specifically about Captain America, but the story line was amazing anyways. I tend to sleep through movies--no matter how interested I am in it--but this one I stayed away for from start to finish, leaving with the happiest face on earth!

Overwatch (Blizzard Entertainment) | I had heard about Overwatch when the open beta went live, but was very timid to try it (mostly because I haven't played first person shooters in a long time and I was super intimidated). My friend ended up gifting me the game as a late birthday present, and I couldn't be more thankful! I don't play games for long periods of time. I tend to buy a game, play it for a couple of weeks, then forget about it. Overwatch is not one of those games. Despite the few amount of heroes to choose from, every game still feels pretty different because of the array of maps. I also like how short the game periods are so I can play a match in between doing other things. Currently, my favorite Heroes are and Torbjorn. Who are yours?

Fuller House (Netflix Original) | Of all Netflix Originals, I think Fuller House hits home with me. I grew up watching Full House all of my life, so when I heard that Fuller House was coming out on Netflix this year, I was super excited! A lot of people say the humor is super cheesy, but I think that's the show's charm. We grew up with the cheesy, corny family sitcom show, and I enjoyed how they re-created that charm in a modern way. For both season 1 and 2, I binge watched the whole season in less than 24 hours. Totally worth!
